Maloney Says Politics Can Wait

Tuxedo, NY – When Chele Farley announced she would seek the Republican, Conservative and other party nominations for New York’s 18thCongressional District, entrenched incumbent Sean Patrick Maloney dismissed it saying politics can wait. Maloney’s exact response was, “The folks I work for want someone focused on solving their problems. There will be plenty of time to worry about politics next year.”

What a difference a month makes. Maloney posted a poor first quarter fundraising number raising only $217,000. That’s less than half of what he has raised in similar past quarters. Now, he’s so desperate to raise campaign cash he even sent out a fundraising email on Memorial Day! Below is a screen shot of the opening email which is time-stamped at 8:06 p.m. last night.

“Sean Patrick Maloney tells voters that politics can wait to next year, but if he really meant it, he wouldn’t be sending out fundraising emails on Memorial Day.” claimed Chele Farley. “Sean Patrick Maloney has done a disservice to his constituents by putting politics before honoring our nation’s veterans and those who sacrificed to protect our freedom.”

To add insult to injury, Maloney went on to lie about his own fundraising record. Right in the email he stated, “But I don’t take a dime from shady Special Interest groups… my vote can’t be bought like a Republican’s can.” This from a career politician who has not only taken thousands of special interest money in his runs for various offices, but who has already taken $33,900 from lobbyists in 2019! He even took $1,000 from Altria Group, Inc PAC. While Sean Patrick Maloney claims he doesn’t take a dime from “shady Special Interest groups,” he took tobacco money.

“Sean Patrick Maloney’s email is exactly what is wrong with Washington. Career politicians get too wrapped up in their own ambitions to focus on the needs of the people they serve,” said Farley. “Sean Patrick Maloney has become a member of the DC swamp with his own questionable fundraising tactics. This is one reason why I believe so strongly in federal term limits. It will help drain Washington’s swamp and bring in people who want to go to Washington to make a real difference back in their district.”
