CHINA NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR COVID-19

TUXEDO, NY– Chele Chiavacci Farley, the Republican and Conservative nominee for Congress in New York’s 18th Congressional District, calls on Congress to investigate the actions of China and the World Health Organization in minimizing the seriousness of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Farley said: “More and more reports are stating that the origin of the COVID-19 outbreak came from bat to human contact in a Wuhan China testing lab. The lab didn't meet international standards to conduct the testing. Even worse, it seems China tried to cover up the outbreak.”

“New York has been hit harder than any other part of our country. We have more than 230,000 cases, and sadly over 15,000 deaths. Our people are suffering and mourning, our workers are unemployed, and our small businesses are closed because it appears China waited six days to announce the extent of the epidemic. It also seems that the United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO) has placed defending China over the health and well being of billions of other people.”

“I call on Congress to bring the head of the World Health Organization before the House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations committees and demand answers on what they knew. Additionally, when I’m elected to Congress, I will work to pass legislation that focuses on bringing our vital drug manufacturing back home. We can’t allow China the ability to cripple our supply chain in the future.”

“If it is confirmed that China covered this up, either by accident or intentionally, their actions are criminal. They need to be held accountable for the human and economic suffering from COVID-19 that they caused.”
