NYC Authorities Refusal to Cooperate with ICE Puts Children at Risk

TUXEDO, NY - Chele Chiavacci Farley, candidate for Congress (NY-18) released the following statement in response to local authorities in NYC releasing a convicted child abuser back into the community, in defiance of an ICE retainer request.

"Today we learned of more horrifying news regarding local authorities in New York City. Without regard for public safety, NYC released an illegal immigrant back into the community who was convicted of child abuse and charged with sexual abuse. As a sanctuary city, New York City chose to defy a retainer request from U.S. Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and released Grachowe Harrichand, a national from Guyana, back into the public, putting young women in the community in harm’s way. This news comes only weeks after Westchester County—also a sanctuary county—released another criminal illegal alien who had allegedly raped a young girl.

It is unfathomable that our local authorities seem to prioritize protecting illegal aliens who rape young girls and abuse children over protecting young girls and US citizens. New Yorkers should be outraged and concerned that radical Democrats in Albany, aligned with socialist AOC and The Squad, are pushing hard to make all of New York a sanctuary state. We can’t allow this to happen. There should be no sanctuary for those who knowingly violate our laws and harm our citizens. I am committed to protecting the citizens of New York and the Hudson Valley."
