TUXEDO, NY...Chele Chiavacci Farley (R-Orange County) released the following statement regarding Sean Maloney's refusal to support the resolution to condemn and censure Adam Schiff:
“Sean Patrick Maloney once again joined ranks with the radical socialist Democrats by doubling down on impeachment efforts in the House and arguing that Congressman Adam Schiff “behaved ethically and professionally” as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. His insistence that Schiff acted according to his “moral code’” directly flies in the face of The Washington Post, which assigned Congressman Schiff an embarrassing 4 Pinocchios for lies about his committee and for having early knowledge of the whistleblower complaint.
A member of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Sean Maloney continues to grossly mislead the American people by claiming his Committee probe is about foreign assistance into the 2020 American presidential election. This is simply not true. The fact is that President Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky was about working to uncover abuses during the 2016 election and potential corruption with then Vice President Biden and his son. Anyone can read the transcript and understand this.
Americans deserve to know if a foreign nation was involved in corruption and President Trump is within his rights to investigate.
The Democrats have no evidence of any wrongdoing by the President. If they did, then perhaps Congressman Schiff would not make a mockery of a U.S. Congressional hearing by altering the transcript to fit his personal agenda. If they had enough evidence, then they should follow Constitutional law and take a vote to officially begin an impeachment inquiry. They have not done so. Instead they skirt the law, launch six different committee hearings to push a false narrative and actively mislead the American public.
I urge Congressman Maloney to support the Resolution to Condemn and Censure Adam Schiff for manufacturing false dialogue between President Trump and President Zelensky, and I urge Congress to get to work to focus on issues that really matter including border security, infrastructure, and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement instead of wasting taxpayer dollars on baseless investigations.”
