New York is the highest-taxed state in the country. Onerous tax rates and reduced economic opportunities have caused over 1 million people to flee New York State since 2010. In the Hudson Valley, crushing property taxes have stretched household budgets to the breaking point and made it difficult for both young families and seniors to remain in their communities. Our property tax crisis was exacerbated by the $10,000 cap on the state and local tax deduction in the federal tax bill. Unfortunately, we didn’t have anyone fighting for Hudson Valley families by negotiating a better deal for us. I will fight to get back the billions more New York State sends to Washington each year than we receive in return and use these funds to create jobs, lower our taxes and reduce our energy costs.
